Cultural rights – including the right of access to, and of participation in cultural activities – are fundamental human rights and are indispensable to human dignity and the freedom to develop one’s own personality.Cultural institutions are often not adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities, which leads to the fact that this group may be excluded from all cultural life. The Youth Theatre Sarajevo is the first cultural institution in BiH and the region, where persons with all kinds of disabilities have now barrier-free access and can be active as well as passive consumers of culture. The mapping of barriers and needs was conducted in cooperation with organisations working with people with different kinds of disabilities. One of the project activities was also a theatre play for children, whichequally involved children with and without disabilities, and which won a sympathetic reception among the public.
