Health investments make the society healthier, the economy stronger and the future brighter

The publication "Fiscal sustainability of the health care system in Bosnia and Herzegovina", which provides a comprehensive analysis of the financial sustainability of the health care system in BiH, was published as part of the project "Strengthening integrity in the process of creating a list of medicines in BiH".

The draft of a comprehensive publication prepared by the Economic Institute in Sarajevo with the aim of discovering potential sources for additional financing of healthcare in Bosnia and Herzegovina was presented at the Round Table held at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo. The event was attended by health authorities from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through the inclusion and constructive dialogue of the participants, the optimal approaches, and criteria necessary for the sustainable financing of healthcare in Bosnia and Herzegovina were discussed.

The publication also explores the challenges facing the healthcare system, including the growing demand for healthcare services, the aging population and system fragmentation. Special emphasis was placed on identifying opportunities for increasing efficiency in the use of public funds, as well as on potential additional sources of funding.

The publication provides insights and recommendations for further action to preserve and improve the health system in Bosnia and Herzegovina and represents the basis for potential future reforms that will contribute to eliminating disparities and improving the quality of health services in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
